Ha ha ha! I made these images and posted them onto Ponibooru as a joke.
Today, I have just come home from my second and final day at this year’s Animex Festival at Teesside University! And I feel like they were my best two days of the year so far!
Yesterday, we had Teagan Morrison, the lead environment artist for Uncharted 3, come and discuss the creation of 3D environments for the Uncharted trilogy (not that I’m into that series). I found his guest lecture incredibly thorough and informative, which I believe will help me when I start working on my own environment(s) next year.
And today, we got to meet Ken Wong, the art director for Alice: Madness Returns, Jeep Barnett, the inventor of the Portal Gun, and Karen Prell, former Muppets puppeteer and character animator for Portal 2!
Not only did we get to know more about their experiences and involvement in the games industry as well as the development of the games they worked on, but we also got to ask a few questions.
Here are the questions I asked;
To Ken Wong: “Was the downloadable Fleshmaiden outfit influenced by Lady Gaga’s meat dress in any way?”
“No. The dress was more influenced by the game itself. Nearly everything in the game is fleshy and meaty. But she’s cool.”
To Karen Prell: “Have you seen the YouTube video in which somebody actually made a real puppet of Wheatley?”
“Yes, yes. I’ve had so many people ask me about that. In fact, I’ve already got in contact with her and I asked her to make me a Wheatley.”
Mystery Ezekude: “Aww, that sounds great!”
This is an illustration by British artist Oliver Shilling (1990-) titled “Feather”. I am personally amazed by this illustration’s expressive use of symmetry and negative space as well as subtle asymmetry (i.e. asymmetrical snow).
This is one of the many laboratories in the Teesside University Athena Building. This is Room A3.09; “3D Computer Animation,” which provides dual-screen Windows 7 computers with lots of 3D software including 3D Studio Max, Maya and ZBrush.
I usually come here during my spare time to work on my 3D models and animations in 3D Studio Max since my computers at home don’t have the software.
This is a charcoal drawing of a crow drawn by sowarmasolitude. I noticed it on my Tumblr Radar, and it caught my eye not only with its detailed and expressive shading, but also with its ability to express human emotions in animals. In this case, sorrow in a crow.
